June 2025, Raids and Protest

At the start of June 2025 and throughout the following months, Los Angeles experienced significant ICE raids and subsequent protests, marked by peaceful demonstrations as well as violent clashes, vandalism, and arrests.

Protests organized by immigrant and civil rights groups aimed to oppose federal raids, which targeted locations such as Home Depot stores and day labor centers, and to advocate for immigrant community rights. The unrest included clashes with law enforcement, highway blockages, and the deployment of the National Guard and Marines.

Federal agents and local law enforcement indiscriminately used rubber bullets, tear gas, pepper balls, and flash grenades to suppress protesters, many of whom were injured, including journalists.
